India-IX provides bilateral peering with selected Networks across the shared fabric. Indian-IX allows multiple carriers to interconnect with other carriers across a single physical port.

India-IX negotiates packages of peering and transit arrangements for Networks, With which the ISP, or content provider, can enjoy a much greater degree of autonomy about how it routes its traffic, to which part of the Internet, and by which means. The Networks have greater control and the potential for better utilization of resources.

As consumers demand a more responsive online experience, the latency (or delay) on their IP Service Provider's routing connections is an important factor. By connecting the customer directly to the India- IX, the number of hops between the customer and customers of other IP Service Providers, or the servers of content providers that they need to communicate with, is reduced, leading to an improved performance for end users. This benefit is becoming increasingly important as bandwidth sensitive applications become more prevalent (e.g. tele/video/audio conferencing, VoIP, online gaming, video on demand, software distribution; peer-to-peer file sharing, etc.)

Peering with India-IX helps to save around 80-90% bandwidth and latency up to 15-20 Ms.

By routing a portion of its traffic through peered networks, the Networks saves money on IP Transit costs (the cost of purchasing bandwidth from a telecom carrier).

Root servers are an essential part of the domain name system (DNS). They publish root zone file contents, which are responsible for DNS functionality, to the Internet. DNS associates information with domain names, and a great deal of online activity makes use of it. A root server is often called a DNS root name server.

Route Server Peering enables ISP’s to exchange internet routes between multiple connected members available at platform. BGP communities are also available to allow route filtering.
